1. Renting with Airbnb
One idea, if you own your home, is to rent out your spare bedroom or even your living room couch! Or, if you have a vacation home, why not rent it out for part of the year when you are away? By being a host on Airbnb, you can make easy money renting out that space you rarely use to vacationers. The best part? You won’t even need to leave your own home to make money. You can even meet new friends along the way, if you want of course.
2. Rent Property
If you are looking for something a bit more regular, consider renting out a room or part of your house to a tenant. You can rent to a friend or family member in need, or if your feeling brave, put an ad in Craigslist or someplace similar. Renting is a great way to keep the money flowing in for a longer period of time as most tenants will be staying for a fixed term. It’s just like having a college roommate — but better.
3. Rent Your Car
Have you ever thought about renting out your car? Turo is one website where you can rent your car if you barely use it! It’s a great way to make some extra cash, and Turo really goes the extra mile to keep your car safe — they have an insurance policy on all cars and they even prescreen drivers. So why not?
4. Use your car as a moving billboard — and get paid!
Carvertise and Wrapify are two companies that will pay you for advertising with your car — all you need to do is drive it around! You probably already drive your car back and forth to work everyday, so why not make some extra money with it? How much you get paid depends on your location, as well as how often you drive and what kind of car you have.
5. Rent Out Your Belongings
Do you have a lot of stuff you don’t use frequently? Fatllama is a site where you can rent out your belongings — almost anything you can think of. As a lender, your first step will be to upload images, descriptions and prices for the items you would like to rent out. Once you receive a request, you can arrange a time and place to exchange your item. After that, you can sit back and watch the money come in! Fatllama even has damage protection on the items you rent out, so you don’t have to worry about your stuff getting broken. A few examples of things you can rent out include cameras or other electronics, musical instruments, bikes, clothing, or baby items (this might be a hit for traveling parents). The list is endless!
6. Buy and Sell Domain Names
Since the internet has become such a large part of every day business and advertising, businesses are constantly looking to create websites that are easy to find, easy to remember, and relate to their name or business. Buying domain names with the intention of reselling is a great investment because these companies could potentially invest a lot in a solid domain name. There are a lot of places online where you can buy and sell domain names. A few of the most popular are 1and1, GoDaddy, Flippa, and Sedo. You can even sell domain names on eBay!
7. Have a Garage Sale
A great way to get rid of all your extra crap during spring cleaning is to hold a garage sale. Alternatively, you can list your things on Craigslist, eBay, or even on Facebook Marketplace. One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure, after all.
8. Sell Things Online
If you love making things and you’re creative and talented, why not open up a store and sell on Etsy? Alternatively, you can also make lots of money buying and reselling things on eBay. This is an especially great choice if you love hunting for deals at thrift stores (or elsewhere). Often you can find things for cheap — at Goodwill for example — and flip it on eBay for more than you originally purchased it for.
9. Sell snacks or food at work
Sell snacks and other food items (not drugs, you’ll get fired) to your coworkers at your day job! I know someone who did this every Friday at her job, and after a few weeks, she had raised over $2,500 for a co-worker in need. Try bringing in a variety pack of chips and sell each for $1, or ask some coworkers to join you in your venture and split the profits. Some jobs are better suited to this than others (you aren’t going to sell many chips if you work at a super market, for example), and company size definitely has an impact on how much profit you can make. Regardless, this is definitely a great way to make some quick cash.
10. Mystery shopper
One side hustle that can be a lot of fun is mystery shopping — think of it like undercover detective work. A mystery shopper’s job is to go into stores and check out things like overall customer experience, without letting the employees know. Cool, right? There are a lot of places where you can sign up to be a mystery shopper. One company, called Mobee, offers an app that allows shoppers to examine specific products, fixtures, and even customer service in retail stores in exchange for points that can be exchanged for gift cards.
11. T-Shirt Printing Service
Many people have turned this hobby into a thriving business. Small shops at the Jersey Shore boardwalk are well known for giving customers shirts with the latest trends printed on them, why not follow their example and offer printed shirts to customers? You could also sell shirts to businesses, sports teams, or anyone else wanting customized clothing. Alternatively, you could design your own shirts and put them up for sale on a print-on-demand site like RedBubble, CafePress or Printful.
12. Personal Shopper
Who doesn’t love to shop? Personal shoppers give advice and guidance to their clients, helping them make shopping decisions, and will either accompany clients on shopping trips, or pick things up on their behalf. Most personal shoppers make anywhere from $65-$100+ an hour. If you shop a lot, you most likely already have the knowledge you need to be an asset to potential customers, keeping them up on trends and in style.
13. Launch a subscription box service
Subscription box services can be complicated to start up — there is a lot that goes into them — but if you have a great idea it could be worth the effort to cash in on this new trend. Some popular subscription boxes, like Prospurly, make in the ballpark of $50,000. That’s a lot of cash! Perhaps the best way to start up this business is to sell through a company like Crate Joy, which is basically the Etsy for subscription boxes.
14. Sell Gift cards you won’t use
Why keep a gift card to a place that you will never shop at? Turn it into some cash or another gift card! Websites like Cardpool offer a service where you can sell unwanted gift cards. You can can sell gift cards on eBay as well.
15. Recycle used smartphones and other electronics
Have an old smartphone lying around, collecting dust? Companies like Gazelle will buy used smartphones (and other electronics) for cash at reasonable prices. Beyond selling your own phone, you can even look for used electronics at thrift stores or garage sales or ask your friends and family if they have any electronics they’d like to get rid of.
Teaching (5)
16. Teaching online/tutoring
Have a lot of knowledge in a particular area? You could become an online tutor or teacher. One company, called Wyzant, offers an app that allows you to choose your own rates and sell yourself as a tutor. They have a good reputation and can help you to promote yourself as a tutor. There are also sites like Udemy through which you can connect with students from across the world and create your own courses to teach.
17. Substitute teaching
Have at least a bachelor’s degree and love children? Sign up to substitute teach in your town and the towns surrounding you. Most substitute teaching positions pay between $75-$100+ a day, depending on the town, and you can pick what days you want to work. School systems are in constant in need of substitute teachers, so it’s a win-win all around.
18. Write Lesson Plans and Curriculum
Teachers are always looking for quick easy things to pull out for lessons. If you are a teacher and have a great lesson plan, why not sell it and make some money? Try putting it up on Teachers Pay Teachers and earn some cash, as well as help out fellow teachers in a bind.
19. Music lessons
For those who are musically inclined, you can pickup a part-time job teaching music at a school. Even better, teach privately out of your home — or travel to your students and teach them in their own homes. Lots of parents want their kids to play musical instruments and are willing to pay for lessons, which could make this a steady side hustle.
20. Teach people to use their smartphones/devices
Baby-boomers are constantly feeling lost in a society where everyone around them is using technology which advances too quickly for them to keep up. Many people from the older generations want or need to understand technology, whether for their personal life or for work, and are willing to pay someone to help. If you are technologically inclined — or even just familiar with basic smartphone/computer/what-have-you use — this is an easy way to make money. If you decide to do this let me know. My grandmother could certainly use a couple lessons.
Animals (3)
21. Dog walker
Do you love animals? Why not be a dog walker? As a dog walker, you have the ability to take on multiple pets at the same time — which, of course, equates to more cold hard cash. To get started, try making a profile on Care, ask your friends and family, or even just put up some flyers around town.

After you’ve graduated, you can get a job working nights and weekends at a bar. Bartenders make great tips! These tips are on top of your hourly wage, and the amount will vary depending on factors like your location and the crowd that particular night.

Mobile detailing is particularly good for serving clients who may have multiple cars.
76. Fix Computers
Computer repair centers charge a ridiculous amount of money for simple repairs. This is because they often have to cover the cost of hardware that has been marked up to sky-high prices as well as pay for their storefront. If you are technologically savvy, you can make decent money doing simple repairs and charging much less than your competitors at the repair centers. Many professionals post how-to videos that can make it easy for beginners to fix computers. Beyond fixing computers for clients, you can also fix old, discarded laptops. People are often quick to dump their old technology after upgrading to a newer version. With a little know-how, you can fix up (and upgrade) these old laptops and resell them to new customers.

Professional movers charge a lot for what is a pretty basic job. Figure out the rates of moving companies near you and charge less. This will help you pick up jobs and make a decent amount of side income moving furniture and packing boxes.

Most people don’t enjoy mowing their lawn, especially when it gets hot outside. This is where you come in. Lawn care services can span from basic lawn cutting to landscaping. Ask around your neighborhood and you might find that you can get some regular cash caring for people’s lawns. After all, the grass won’t cut itself, and it won’t stop growing either.
80. Furniture Making
Quality furniture can be very expensive and most of the items you find in stores are cookie-cutter and basic. Designing and building home furniture reasonable prices will not only save customers money, but also provide them with unique pieces that suits their sense of style. When setting prices for your furniture, you will want to make sure that you are charging enough to make a profit while still keeping pieces affordable.
81. Refurbish Furniture and Antiques For Resale
People tend to throw out what they don’t need. The same is true for furniture. It is relatively easy to find cheap (or free) pieces of solid, quality furniture that just need a little sandpaper and paint to look their best. Refurbishing and flipping furniture for profit can be incredibly lucrative, and it’s fun too. Sturdy, solid wood pieces are great finds, as are antiques. Antiques are almost alway valuable — especially to the right person. With a little bit of time and TLC, antiques and other piece can be brought back to life and resold.
82. Snow Removal
Although snow removal is seasonal and might not apply to everywhere in the US, it is a good way some to make some extra cash. You can do snow removal for individuals or businesses, and can expect to make between $30-$100 per driveway (or sidewalk).
83. Event DJ-ing

84. Photographer
Is photography a hobby of yours? Make it a business! Working as a photographer is a classic side hustle. You can do sessions for Christmas, photograph maternity shoots, document birthdays — even work weddings! Your rates will probably reflect your experience level, as well as the type of photography you are doing. You can even become a freelance magazine (or newspaper) photographer, or a stock photo photographer and sell your photos.
85. Prepare Taxes
Basic tax returns are surprisingly easy. Despite this, most people don’t want to deal with the headache. You do need a license to prepare taxes for people in any official capacity. This can be obtained through the IRS, and only requires a couple weeks worth of classes and a small fee.
86. Interior Design Consult
Flipping houses has become a big market. With that, interior design is also needed. People who invest in houses will often bring in someone with an eye for design who can help make their houses more attractive to potential buyers. On top of this, many new homeowners will pay someone to help them decorate their house. This someone could be you.
87. Become a Brand Ambassador
Brand ambassadors, similar to social media influencers, are paid by brands to promote their products. Unlike influencers, brand ambassadors are expected to be the “face of the brand,” and portray the brand’s identity, values, and social responsibility. 88. Become a Translator
If you are fluent in multiple languages, then you can make money by acting as a translator. You can also work as an in-person translator or interpreter.
Investments (4)
89. Invest in Stocks
Everybody thinks that stocks are tricky, which is true when your goal is to become a millionaire. After all, high reward comes with high risk. Lower risk stocks can also be found, however, and can provide a slow but steady growth and income. It isn’t difficult to find some low risk stocks to invest in if you put in the time to research. Platforms like RobinHood also can be good for beginners because they do not charge any trading fees.
90. Invest Spare Change With Acorns
Acorns takes money from your everyday spending and automatically rounds it up to the next dollar. After doing this, the app takes your leftover change and invests it into diverse portfolios. You can even add money on your own if you want to invest more.
91. Investment Crowdfunding
Participating in investment crowdfunding allows investors to invest in promising startups. This carries more risk than traditional investing, but also gives you a chance to beat the stock market and reap the rewards in a big way if the company you invested in takes off.
92. Peer to Peer Lending
Have money just sitting in your bank account, collecting interest? Why not try peer to peer lending instead? Peer to peer lending is the process of loaning your money to individuals or businesses for a larger return of investment than you would have gotten at the bank. There are many marketplaces, including Upstart and Funding Circle, that help connect borrowers and lenders.
